Lockout - If you are late (arriving after the bell has rung without a written excuse from the office or teacher) to any AK class you will proceed to lockout. In lockout you will assist our custodial staff with school beautification and other tasks that will encourage punctuality in the future. You will be given TWO warnings for your first and second tardies. You will check in with the lockout instructor and they will take down your name and send you back to class. Any subsequent tardies will result in lockout without return to class and possible ASD.
DEAR Day - Every Wednesday at AK we have DEAR Day. This is a 45 minute period of time dedicated to reading a novel. No Magazines. No Textbooks. No Class Notes. If you do not have a novel to read, Ms. Peach will happily provide you with one BEFORE THE BELL RINGS! Remember, reading helps make new connections between the neurons and synapse in your, which make you smarter!
Agendas - Every AK Student must have their personal agenda with them at all times. The agenda is used for writing passes to the bathroom, other classrooms, and the office. The agenda is also used by your teachers should they ever need you to come in to school early for tutoring. You must have their signature and note written on the day you will be arriving early.
Name Badges - All AK students must ALWAYS have their name badge on their person (in your backpack, purse, clipped to bag or belt). If you do not have a name badge you will not be allowed entry into the school or class. Repeat offenders will be given ASD. If you would like a badge reel for your name badge, see Ms. Peach. If you have lost your name badge you can request a replacement badge in the Media Center for $5.
Dress Code - Remember to always use your student handbook as a reference for school dress code. If you have to ask yourself "is this appropriate for school?" it might be better to wear something else. Remember the school does not have a backup wardrobe for you to access should you be wearing anything inappropriate. You will be given ASD and sent home to change or have your parents called to bring you new clothes.
